The use of the ToxiMet system scores positively environmentally on two fronts. Firstly, the availability of the ToxiQuant and its ease and cost effectiveness of use will enable and encourage greater testing frequency. This will be especially important to those companies in the global supply chain responsible for the import, export and transport of food products.  Increased testing reduces the likelihood of the movement of foodstuffs that would fail the regulatory limit. Moving ‘bad’ food costs both time and money and is environmentally wasteful.

Secondly, in comparison to high performamce liquid chromatography (HPLC), the ToxiMet system uses far less solvent. This may be greater than a factor of ten times and even more importantly the solvents used in HPLC are more environmentally unfriendly and more expensive. There is therefore a cost saving in having to purchase the solvent but also a cost saving and environmental benefit in the disposal of the waste solvent.
